Galveston Offers Upgrades and New Meeting Spaces to Group Market

GALVESTON, Texas (Feb. 13, 2019) – Galveston’s historic charm and affordability as a beach destination are not the only things drawing the attention of meeting planners year after year. That’s because the island has plenty of new offerings, from unique meeting spaces to recent multi-million-dollar upgrades.

Here’s a summary of all that’s new in Galveston:

Seawall to Sport Wider, Replenished Beaches in 2019
Galveston’s famous seawall will be sporting wider, replenished beaches by the spring of 2019. The Galveston Park Board is planning a sand nourishment project that will take place in April at Babe’s Beach, located just west of 61st Street along the seawall. The $24.5 million project is expected to place 1 million cubic yards of new sand on the half-mile stretch of beach, widening the area to provide for more recreational space for visitors.  www.galvestonbeachinfo.com

New Extended-Stay Luxury Suites at The Tremont House & Hotel Galvez Upgrades
The Tremont House opened its extended stay suites, The Quarters, to its first guests last February. The Quarters—a $1.2 million project— is located on Mechanic Street in the 1858 Berlocher Building, offering king-sized beds, fully-furnished kitchens, and high-end furnishings for living and dining spaces in one and two-bedroom suites. Special amenities include a mini-bar, adjacent parking, room service, Wi-Fi, cable TV, access to Tremont Fitness Center and the Galvez pool. These suites are part of The Tremont House inventory and available for guests with stays from five days to a month-long or longer. In addition, The Tremont House’s sister property, Hotel Galvez & Spa, completed a $300,000 renovation to its pool area that includes new cabanas, upgraded restrooms and a remodeled bar. www.thetremonthouse.com

Upgrades Completed at The San Luis Resort
The San Luis Resort is proud to unveil major recent upgrades and renovations. Most notably, the resort has completed significant pool-area renovations. The re-imagined outdoor oasis is the ultimate retreat for sun-kissed relaxation and enjoyment. Additional deck space was integrated to allow for new poolside lounging and restaurant seating options, cabanas and VIP area, The Cove. A new, custom-built fire pit provides the perfect setting for groups to sit back and soak in gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico from Adirondack chairs. Fitness center equipment was upgraded to further offer guests a state-of-the-art workout to jump start or end their day. In addition, the resort introduces Essentials, a conveniently located one-stop gift shop.

Historic Carr Mansion Restored to Charming Bed & Breakfast
The Carr Mansion is a must-stay for the luxury traveler. Opened in July 2018, this stunning bed and breakfast, housed in an 1866 Greek Revival style mansion, underwent an extensive restoration and remodel to bring guests a one-of-a-kind retreat tucked in the heart of historic Galveston Island. The home’s interior features a modern design while staying true to its history with several original and antique pieces throughout the eight guest rooms, parlor, ballroom and pub.
