Holiday Fun Continues in Galveston This Weekend with Sip ‘N Shop, Santa Hustle, The Nutcracker, and train rides on the “Harborside Express” with Santa

GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 11, 2018) – It’s all about Santa Claus and shopping on Galveston Island this weekend. Santa will make several appearances in the historic downtown district where visitors will find myriad ways to finish up their Christmas shopping.
Sip ‘N Shop Through Downtown Historic Galveston
Come stroll Downtown Galveston's Historic Strand District and find unique and wonderful gifts for everyone on your list, including yourself on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 5 - 8 p.m. While shopping, relax and enjoy a sip of wine. Shops on Strand, Postoffice and along the numbered streets in between will participate and offer refreshments, specials and some gift wrapping.

Santa Train at the Galveston Railroad Museum
Santa is coming to town aboard the Galveston Railroad Museum’s Harborside Express train! The museum’s annual Santa Train event will be held Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Bring your wish list to visit with Santa, stroll through the museum’s Garden of Steam and enjoy festive holiday lights, decorations and crafts.

Admission: $12 adults (ages 13+); $5 train rides (ages 2+)
Santa Hustle Half Marathon & 5K
If you are a Christmas lover, enjoy overplayed holiday music, devouring candy and cookies, and joining in on an epic after party, then grab your favorite friends and family and register for the 2018 Santa Hustle Galveston 5K & Half Marathon on Sunday, Dec. 16. This wacky event will feature more than five thousand “Santas” jingling along their way routes. Event participants will receive a Santa suit long sleeve t-shirt, a Santa hat and beard to wear while running. Participants will be able to stop at cookie and candy stations along the routes.

“The Nutcracker” Returns to The Grand 1894 Opera HouseThe Grand 1894 Opera House continues its holiday season with the City Ballet of Houston’s performing the “The Nutcracker” for three shows on Saturday and Sunday. Following the afternoon performances, ticket holders will be able to experience the behind the scenes magic of "The Nutcracker" when attendees will have an opportunity to hear a brief presentation about the ballet and meet the dancers.
Dates and Times: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.

“Miracle” Pop Up Bar at DTO on Market Street
Miracle, the beloved Christmas-themed pop-up bar launched in 2014 in New York City, is continuing to spread holiday cheer around the globe, as the brand celebrates its five-year anniversary. This year, Miracle launched more than 80 locations around the world with Sippin’ Santa expanding to multiple locations including Galveston Island’s own Daiquiri Time Out on Market Street. A Christmas-themed pop-up cocktail bar that serves the same Christmas concoctions all over the world including favorites like the Snowball Old Fashioned, Christmas Carol Barrel and the And A Partridge in a Pear Tree. Drinks are served in a festive setting in Cocktail Kingdom’s custom Miracle glassware, from mugs to coupes, highballs and rocks glasses.
