Galveston Spreads Holiday Cheer and Charity During Season of Giving
GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 4, 2015) – ‘Tis the season of giving and this year Galveston is offering the chance to give back to the community when you visit the island this holiday season. Here are a few ways you can help spread some charitable cheer:
· Moody Gardens Food Drive Thursdays
Visitors to Moody Gardens this season can bring non-perishable food items from 5-10 p.m. on Thursdays Nov. 19-Jan. 7 and receive two-for-one Festival of Lights admission. The food drive will benefit Galveston County Food Bank to help local families in need throughout the holiday season. For details, visit www.moodygardens.com.
· Merry Kids’smas Scramble Toy Drive at Moody Gardens Golf Course
The Moody Gardens Golf Course is helping to make the holiday season brighter for children in Galveston County with its annual Merry Kids'smas Scramble and toy drive at 12 p.m. Dec. 5. The golf tournament, held in memory of Josephine Barrientes, will benefit the Resource and Crisis Center of Galveston County. The entry fee is $50 per player, $40 for annual pass holders and requires a new, unwrapped toy per player. It includes green and cart fees, range balls, prizes and refreshments. · 2015 Santas’ Night Out Charity Pub Crawl
If you’re looking for a way to get on Santa’s good side this year, Galveston’s Islander By Choice is offering the perfect opportunity with their 2015 Santas’ Night Out charity pub crawl event benefitting Galveston’s Shriner’s Hospital for Children and The Galveston Diaper Bank. The annual toy drive and pub crawl will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12 beginning at Murphy’s Irish Pub in Galveston. The public is invited to join in holiday-themed costumes and take to the streets of Galveston for cold ales, hot toddies and fine friendship while collecting much needed supplies.
